I remember when I first found out I was pregnant for the first time. I was 18 years old. Engaged. Scared to death. I read all the parenting books, scoured the internet, listened to all the old wives tales, etc. All the worries of the world were now thought of. The biggest worry……Not doing everything “right”. I was determined to learn what “right” was and struggled with it when Gabriel was first born, but I slowly grew into my role as Mama as he grew.
Then I was pregnant again and it hit me. There was no “right”. Everyone had their own opinions of how to go through pregnancy, childbirth, and raising a child, but until you’ve actually been there you truly don’t know. I believe that each child is unique and you will learn your child and they will learn you. From what food make nauseous and give the baby hiccups, to if you want a natural childbirth, to breastfeeding, sleeping arrangements, and more. A Mom goes through hundreds of decisions a day. Don’t let anyone tell you that your not parenting “right”. It comes with practice and age and lots of sleepless nights. I found this quote that says it perfectly:
So be great! Stop worrying for a moment and just be in that moment. Whatever moment your in.
As an experienced and savvy mom, I’ve learned to juggle multiple things at once, and do it well!
