Book Of The Day: The Newsflesh Trilogy Zombies + Bloggers = AWESOME

In 2014, two experimental viruses—a genetically engineered flu strain designed by Dr. Alexander Kellis, intended to act as a cure for the common cold, and a cancer-killing strain of Marburg, known as “Marburg Amberlee”—escaped the lab and combined to form a single airborne pathogen that swept around the world in a matter of days. It cured cancer. It stopped a thousand cold and flu viruses in their tracks.

It raised the dead.

Millions died in the chaos that followed. The summer of 2014 was dubbed “The Rising,” and only the lessons learned from a thousand zombie movies allowed mankind to survive. Even then, the world was changed forever. The mainstream media fell, Internet news acquired an undeniable new legitimacy, and the CDC rose to a new level of power.

Set twenty years after the Rising, the Newsflesh trilogy follows a team of bloggers, led by Georgia and Shaun Mason, as they search for the brutal truths behind the infection. Danger, deceit, and betrayal lurk around every corner, as does the hardest question of them all:

When will you rise?

My Review:
Every once in awhile an author comes up out of the blue. One I’ve never heard of, but who shocks me and leaves me begging for more. I had seen the Newsflesh Trilogy book 1 Feed around a few times, but it didn’t grab my attention. I had it bookmarked as a zombie book when I had nothing else to read. So imagine my surprise when I got sucked into the story of Georgia and Shaun Mason. The brother and sister blogging team who run a site and are trying to get on a presidential campaign…….and blog about The Rising and zombies in their spare time. As a blogger this book series now holds a special place in my heart and will be one of my favorites till the end or our own version of the Zombie Apocalypse whichever comes first. At the end and/or beginning of each chapter you have a blog post. A simple narrative that tells the masses what’s REALLY going on. Where Feed drags you into the world of amplification, zombies, blogging, and conspiracies; Deadline grows into a book that comes alive and bites you in the face. Blackout ends the story with a few surprises that I sure didn’t see coming. So if your a zombie fan, a conspiracy fan, or a virus that kills the world fan these books are for you. As always let me know what you think!
