Sisterhood and Family Bind The McClain Sisters

I absolutely ADORE The McClain Sisters. Not only are they MEGA talented, but they are truly grounded. You have in order from oldest to youngest: Sierra, Lauryn, & China. If your kiddos watch The Disney Channel at all then you will recognize China from the Disney Channel Show A.N.T. Farm. Plus these girls wrote and sing the incredible powerful song RISE from that is featured in the new Disneynature film Chimpanzee.

The girls also spoke about their involvement in the Friends For Change program. They have “started recycling and turning water & lights off”. This program is important to the kiddos and me as well. Back in 2010 for Disney Social Media Moms we were able to participate an act of volunteerism with Disney’s Friends for Change. All four of us were able to plant a tree. To this day the kids always go behind us and talk about unplugging things, turning off water, etc. and Disney inspired them to continue this with the Friends for Change project. You can even watch a quick video of us planting a tree.

When asked if this was the first time the girls had seen the movie they said They “saw a very early version of it, because we had to write the song around the movie. So they let us screen a very early version of it, so it wasn’t our first.” They used Oscar as inspiration for the song stating: “You know, when, hopefully, everybody saw the movie, but when he lost his mom. And probably when — a lot of the battle scenes too because it’s a very inspirational record, and it’s uplifting, you know, and it’s spiritual and that was a big thing for the movie, you know, how they all had to stick together if they wanted to survive, you know, they had to be together, you know, and the lyrics was, “Together we’ll rise.”

With the age difference of being 18, 15, and 13 the girls talked about how they stay grounded. Mainly because of their parents. They still live in the same house together and Lauryn & China even still share a room. You could tell just by them talking with us how much love and unity they have between them. Which when working with family you have to have. You hear of so many kids in the industry letting the fame get to them, but I think with these girls as long as they keep their faith, love, and friendship they girls will RISE.

Those girls were something else. So mature for their age.
