Released last week The Boys Are Back is based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Simon Carr. It features the lovely Clive Owen as Australian sportswriter Joe Warr. Joe’s world crashes down on him when his wife (Laura Fraser) dies of inoperable cancer, leaving him a single parent with young Artie. In typical fashion he has to try and find the right balance between home and work, but decides to use a “no rules, no chores” philosophy. His son Harry a teenager from a previous marriage comes to visit. It’s one of those movies that is heartwarming. A real feel good movie. If you are unsure about watching this let me tell you that it is worth watching Clive Owen alone. Not only is he handsome to look at, but really delivers a great performance that will probably be overlooked otherwise.
